- Clean the wound, with soap and water or other disinfectant
- Stop the bleeding with direct pressure and a bandage
- Apply antibiotic ointment and apply a permanent bandage and dressing
- Change the dressing as needed
- Watch for signs of infection
- Get a tetanus shot if needed
